Melrose man arrested on attempted murder charges after shooting a resident three times

MELROSE, Fla. (WCJB) – A Melrose man was arrested Saturday after a home shooting that left a resident in the hospital.

According to officials with the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office, 60-year-old Michael Robinson was arrested Saturday for shooting a local resident an estimated three times.

Officers initially responded to the call at 8:56 a.m. Saturday, but said the shooting may have occurred late Friday evening.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, traveled to Robinson’s home and was shot three times in the right thigh and right foot after an argument.

According to officers, Robinson fired two different firearms, once with a .9mm pistol that emptied the handgun’s magazine, and then twice with a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle.

A family member picked up the victim from Robinson’s home and took him back to his own apartment, where he called 911.

Robinson was later arrested at his own home in Speedville and is now charged with attempted second-degree murder, which could carry a prison sentence of up to 15 years if convicted.

The victim was transported to UF Shands Hospital and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
