Memories of pheasant hunting at stocked locations in the Clearwater area

In northern Idaho, general pheasant season runs from October 12th to December 31st. For more information about seasons and rules, see Idaho Upland Game, Turkey and Furbearer Regulation Book.

Hunters aged 18 and over who want to exploit bird populations by hunting on a hunting area Pheasant release area must buy one Upland Game Bird Permit in addition to the hunting license. Each permit is for six roosters with a daily limit of two. These permits can be purchased from a regional fishing and game office, from a licensed dealer. on-line, or by phone (1-800-554-8685).

Pheasant hunters must register in advance, except when hunting Redbird WMA. All hunters must wear hunter orange when hunting at the release sites. Shooting hours are from 8 a.m. to half an hour after sunset at all stocked locations in the Clearwater area.

NOTE: Peterson Loop is no longer stocked with pheasants due to poor road conditions for access to this location.

Craig Mountain WMA – Redbird Parcel: This property is a public access area owned and managed by Fish and Game. Please visit the Craig Mountain WMA Website to view and visit information about the WMA Redbird package Website for information. **Note** Hunters are not required to register to hunt the Redbird Package.
