Menendez Brothers: Newsom Order’s slogan board to examine

Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, informed the lawyer of the Menendez brothers that he ordered the probation committee in order to start an investigation of the “comprehensive risk assessment” whether the brothers are “an inappropriate risk to the public” when they are published.

“The primary consideration of the governor when evaluating commutation applications is the public security that the current risk level of the applicant, the effects of commuting on victims and survivors, the self -development and behavior of the applicant, the self -self -development and behavior since the crime, and if the applicant has available, rehabilitation programs that have made the application for treatment facilities have been given Treatments addressed.

“There is no guarantee for the result here,” said Newsom in his new podcast on Wednesday, “this is Gavin Newsom.” “My office consistently conducts dozens and dozens of these mercy checks. However, this process only offers more transparency, which I think is important in this case and delivers more Due diligence before I have a determination for the grace.”

Geragos announced ABC News on Wednesday that, after the request from Newsom, he was “pleased and hopeful” to the probation committee.

A group of Menendez relatives who are committed to publishing the brothers postponed a press conference that was planned for Wednesday after the letter from Newsom.

Ninety days were planned to investigate the risk assessment. If newsom then supports the publication of the brothers, the case will go to the probation workers who have up to six months to check the case.

Lyle and Erik Menendez, who serve without the possibility of probation life in prison, have submitted Newsoma to grace. In November, the governor said that he would have the district prosecutor of Los Angeles, Nathan Hochman’s “review and analysis” of the case, before making decisions.

According to the public records of their prison behavior, both excellent records of Erik Menendez have almost flawless and Lyle Menendez is impaired by some violations. Both brothers prison officers praised their work on behalf of the inmate population, including the establishment of hospice programs and a new Green Space program in Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility near San Diego.

In addition to the grace, the brothers followed two more ways to freedom.

One of them is the Habeas Corpus petition of the brothers, which was submitted in 2023 for a review of two new evidence that were not brought to trial: A letter Erik Menendez wrote to his cousin eight months before the murders, which was evaluated by his father and allegations of a former Boy band member, which was revealed in 2023 by Jose Merne.

Hochman announced on Friday that he asked the court to refuse the Habeas Corpus petition of the brothers, and argued that the new evidence was not credible or permissible.

Lyle Menendez and his brother Erik left on December 14, 1990 in a court room in Beverly Hills, California.

The other is to be annoyed.

In October, the then district prosecutor George Gascón in La County announced that he supported the sizes for the brothers. Gascón recommended their life penalties without the possibility of being remedied, and said they should instead be convicted of murder, which would have a prison sentence of 50 years for life. Since both brothers were under 26 at the time of the crimes, they would immediately have entitled the new judgment for the probation.

The DA’s office said that his misdirement recommendations take into account many factors, including rehabilitation in prison and in the abuse or in trauma that have contributed to the crime. Gascón praised the work that Lyle and Erik Menendez did behind bars to rehabilitate themselves and help other inmates.

Weeks after the announcement by Gascón, he lost his race for re -election against Hochman.

When Hochman came into office on December 3, he promised to check all the facts before making his own decision. Hochman still has to announce whether he supports the brothers or is against the sale of the brothers.

A hearing regarding the comparison case is set for March 20 and 21.
