Men’s basketball in Utah to part with coach Craig Smith in a shocking move

Utah’s basketball took a shocking step on Monday by separating from coach Craig Smith in the middle of the team’s 15:12 record, reported Jeff Goodman’s field of 68.

The utes recently annoyed Kansas 74-67, which was part of the reason why the Jayhawks fell out of the AP survey this week. They also defeated Kansas Statein the next competition. Utah holds a 7-9 big 12 record.

Timing is strange for many reasons, with Utah facing Arizona No. 22 on Wednesday. This would be a great victory for the UTES if you could carry out another surprise. The team has four more games this season, with the season finale being against No. 25 BYU.

Smith took over the UTES program in 2021 and published a record of 65-62 during this time. He never reached the NCAA tournament with Utah, which could have been one of the main reasons that led to leaving the program.

Smith has experience in the NCAA tournament in his coaching career when he led three seasons in a row from 2018 to 2011 (although the 2020 tournament was canceled due to the Covid 19 pandemic).

The position in Utah will be a large opening of the work after the season. The UTES interim trainer has not yet been announced.
