Men’s basketball selected for NIT – Stanford Cardinal

Stanford, California – – – Stanford Herren’s basketball will take part in the post -season for the first time since 2018, as the program for the national invitation tournament was selected. The cardinal will take part in the event for the tenth time and organizes CSUN in the first round of CSUN in the Maples Pavilion.

Tickets for the first round of the NIT tournament will be sold on Sunday, March 16, at 7 p.m. via tickets.gostanford.com. The game will be broadcast on Tuesday, March 18 at 8 p.m. PT and ESPN2.

Stanford has three NIT championships in the program history, which take place in 1991, 2012 and 2015, while holding a record of 19: 6 in nine appearances. Stanford is at home in Nit 11: 2, including nine victories in a row from 2006 to 18 and in each of his last five appearances in the second round.

The Matchup with the Matadors will be the eighth in the program history. Stanford holds a 7-0 record in a series that goes back to 1976. With a win, Stanford St. Bonaventure or Kent State will host in the second round.

The cardinal entered the post-season with 20-13 and took seventh place in the ACC. In the first season under Kyle Smith, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men’s basketball, Stanford has reached 20 wins for the 25th time in the program history and for the first time in 2020.

The appearance after the season is the fourth in a row for a program led by Kyle Smith when his Cougars in Washington State Cougars made three from 2022 to 24 years, including a second round of the NCAA tournament in 2024.

Elite in the Maples Pavilion, Stanford, ended the regular season with the second best home record of the ACC at 16: 2, including a 9-1 mark in the ACC. Duke went 10-0 at home, while the cardinal together with Clemson and Louisville at home belong in the conference game of one of three one-loss team. The cardinal has had its home record since 2014-15 in terms of victories (16) and since 2007/08 in the profit percentage (88.9%).

Stanford is run by three players who are on average in two numbers, including the national double double leader Maxime Raynaud, who is the only player in the country to enter the NIT who is at least 20 points and 10 rebounds on average. Oziyah Sellers (13.6 ppg) and Jaylen Blakes (12.9 ppg) also achieve double digits.

The entire tournament is broadcast in the ESPN family of the networks.
