Merchants use the AI tool “Vi” to increase absorption rates, efficiency and service

John Schmeiser joined the Vi by visorPRO team after nearly 30 years with the North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA) because he saw firsthand how impactful AI can be for dealers.

“A moderator at Agricultural machinery“It was said at the Dealership Minds Summit in August that a car dealership’s future success depends on the level of AI it has integrated into its business,” says Schmeiser. “AI can reduce frustration while increasing merchant absorption rates, profitability, efficiency and customer satisfaction.”

“Vi by visorPRO is a trader-focused AI solution that is shortline friendly and color blind,” said Rob Saik, founder and CEO of visorPRO. It is gaining traction among agricultural equipment dealers in the US, Canada and Australia and is seeing growing interest from Latin America and other global markets.

“We have been commercially available for almost a full year, and in this rapidly changing AI space, that means a lot,” says Saik. “Vi is a game-changer for the equipment sector. We are pleased with the rapid rollout and the impact it is having on customer service and technical support.”

With Vi, dealers have exclusive access to their own vault containing information from uploaded work orders, OEM service manuals, bulletins and more. Traders can ask Vi a question about a piece of equipment, and the system will extract a referenceable answer from the vault in seconds.

“The Vault is a central repository for all of your dealer’s service documents,” says Brock Moir, CPO, visorPRO. “We secure it for you and make sure it’s private to your dealer. The decision maker at the dealership can decide who has access, whether it’s service managers, technicians, or sales and parts reps.”

The Vault is evolving into DealerBrain – launching in late 2024 – which captures exclusive insights from key players not found in any service manual.

“The Brain is about using institutional knowledge in the car dealership,” says Moir. “Having the ability to share this knowledge and information across the entire dealer group is really powerful, as it is currently trapped either in the heads of senior technicians or in the business system.”

Soon, DealerBrain will also include work order integration. Vi is intended to be a one-stop shop for all of a dealer’s service records. Dealers can ask Vi a question about a device and the company will put together an answer based on relevant information from previous work orders.

“Vi can take summaries from several different technician stories and stitch them together to create a more cohesive story about a repair job,” says Wilson Schultz, product manager at visorPRO. “We see this as a huge benefit for technicians to be able to easily read a quick summary before starting work. They’ll probably find something there that they haven’t thought about before, and that will make their work more efficient.”

Torgerson’s Equipment – a dealer with 16 locations in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming – became the first CNH dealer to use visorPRO’s AI technology in 2023. Brion Torgerson, CEO of Torgerson’s, says technology has transformed technician onboarding, speeding up the service process tremendously, especially during peak seasons.

“Speed has always been the number one topic we hear from our dealer customers,” says Schultz. “With Vi, you can get an answer to a question in 15 to 20 seconds, which previously would have taken 10 to 15 minutes. The ability to find shortline information was also crucial. They spent days searching for a quick piece of information, and if you can shorten that to 30 seconds with Vi, that makes a huge difference.”

“We’re just scratching the surface of where this technology can lead,” Moir adds. “I think Vi will change significantly over the next five years as technology advances. We assume that Vi is able to have a complete understanding of what is going on in the service department, so that Vi can help with any issue that arises while dealing with the problem, regardless of whether you currently working on the phone with customers or troubleshooting problems with colleagues. AI will enter every aspect of our lives in very interesting ways. So if you’re not thinking about where the future of AI is heading for your business, now is the time to start because it will have an impact.”
