Meteorological spring just around the corner

West Michigan – Meteorological Spring begins on Saturday, March 1st. Astronomical spring only begins later a month. Irrespective of this, the climate forecast forecasts a little cooler temperatures in the first week of March, which are likely to be over the large lakes and in the northeast (see the preview image below).

We already had two decent seizures of arctic air, and although it is out of the question to see more, it is unlikely that we will move into March. The higher corner of the sun and the gradual change of our jet stream typically prevents this. We also have more daily heating if our daylight gets longer. We win daylight about two to three minutes every day. Don’t forget to return to daylight on Sunday, March 9th.

Normal/average highs for this season have 36 degrees. Everything under normal considered normal, although the probability of under normal temperatures in the first week of March is only around 30 to 40 percent.

As soon as we are turned around the corner with the colder weather, we have to concentrate on the possibility of spring storms and storms. The greatest risk of a storm in March is not Michigan, but further south to the South Central State and Golf Coast region. Nevertheless, heavy storms and tornados are still possible here. Make sure you have a way to get watches/warnings/advice. A NOAA weather radio is always a good idea and make sure that you download the FOX 17 -Wetter app online for free.
