Mets News: Justin Hagenman starts on Wednesday

Since Griffin is not available due to an unknown illness, Justin Hagenman will be with the twins on the active squad for the Mets -Matinee.

Hagenman, a Free Agent who signed his debut in the Great League in the off -season, was one of the typical David Stearns singing – a pitcher with a hidden advantage that he believes that he can be maximized. He is already on the 40-man squad and should therefore be the corresponding step when Jose Siri is placed on the IL for a broken tibia. This is how our Lukas Vlahos described him at the beginning of this year:

Justin Hagenman … had an ugly era and worse peripheral devices than Swingman for Boston’s Triple-A partner. He also has a highly rated sweeper (95th percentile) and fastball with four sea (90th percentile), of which he did not threw often enough. He also has a solid change and a slider who exploits the diversity of his arsenal, which should make him a sustainable candidate for the start.

And so our Steve Sypa wrote him when he discussed the potential starting report:

The 27-year-old right-hander throws with a little effort in his delivery from a deep three-quarter arm slot. Hagenman was still a reliable strike thrower, with a cumulative 7% BB% over 409.0 Innerings (2.9 BB/9). The 6’3 ”, 205-pound right-handed man mainly relies on a four-pitch mix, which contains a fast ball with two sea emotions, a cutter, a slider and a change. None of his parking spaces was so much better equipped than the edge average. While the right-handed man was reliably able to achieve a hit with his career. .249/.318/.485 in the year 2024. The right -handed man gives up too many fly balls, and too many of these fly balls have chosen Home Runs.

Hagenman does not have a big start in Syracus and appears three games with an ERA of 6.97. His last start, on April 10, he only went two and twelve three innings while he threw 64 pitches, but he only gave up one run while he was five and two.

The Mets will need another starter for the game on Friday evening against the cardinals. José Ureña would stand up for the start, but he would have to be added to the 40-man squad of the Mets.
