Miami safety Jaden Harris is committed to Georgia football

The Georgia Bulldogs have added former Miami safety Jaden Harris to safety via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The Georgia Bulldogs have been watching their two starting safeties for 2024: Malaki Starks and Dan Jackson are playing their final snaps in a Georgia uniform. Starks has already declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, and Dan Jackson is most likely ineligible and a player that warrants an NFL Draft selection.

They’ve already added former USC safety Zion Branch through the portal, and now they’ve added Jaden Harris. Harris started every game for the Hurricanes this season at safety and will most likely compete for starting playing time in Athens as well. Harris graduated from Riverwood High School in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He’s a local native and a quality soccer player, worth adding in an emergency situation.

In the history of Georgia’s portal expansions, they all check one of three boxes:
1. Transferring players who played at an SEC school or against Georgia –
Think of portal newcomers like London Humphreys, Dominic Lovett and even Eli Wolf. If you record good performances in this conference or against Georgia, they will be interested when you visit the portal.
2. Transfer players who have a history or connection with Georgia
If Georgia was in the running for you in high school, they would probably be circling the wagons when you entered the portal in college. Or whether Georgia had a direct connection to you in your past stops, such as Lawrence Cager’s crossover in Miami with Todd Hartley.
3. Transfer players who will have an immediate impact on the starting rotation
Georgia will look in the portal at any player she believes can start for her tomorrow, even without a prior connection. Players like Tre McKitty and Tykee Smith made this roster based solely on their college performances.
