Mikaela Shiffrin wins the 101st World Cup victory in the last race of the challenging season

Mikaela Shiffrin scored her 101st world champion victory on Thursday and took the last race of a season, which was so challenging that she wondered for a while whether she should be ski race.

Shiffrin won the slalom of the World Cup final with 1.13 seconds against German Lena Dürr on Thursday with 1.13 seconds.

“(Win No. 100 on February 23) was like this reset and 101 is almost a restart,” said Shiffrin, looking at the 2025-26 season, which begins in October. “This is how I try to see it. Hopefully there will be a lot in my career in the future.”

It is Shiffrin’s fourth victory in six World Cup slalom starts this season. This was their greatest profit margin of these four.

She won the first two slaloms of the season in November and then tore into a huge slalom crash on November 30th. A stab wound pierced almost pierced organs.

Shiffrin returned to the competition on January 30 and took 10th place in a slalom. Shortly before the World Cup in February in training, she plunged several times in training, including the “fairly hard” head and the Clearing Covering Protocol.

Shiffrin was fifth in the slalom of Worlds, where she also won the team combined gold with Breezy Johnson. In the last three world championship slaloms this season, she took first, third and first place and once again faced the best in the world after she had come out of the edge.

“This (season) was quite a roller coaster,” she said. “There were some really exciting moments and a few moments when I ask if I should be in sports at all.”

Shiffrin was psychologically affected by the crash on November 30, even after she had returned to the race. A post -traumatic stress disorder was diagnosed on February 12. Share more in your YouTube series “Move Right Orient”.

“I know that if I brought the work back on the hard days, I will feel myself again,” she said in a episode published on Wednesday. “But you have to start somewhere and for me it is only the beginning to return to the race this season.”

The Croatian Zrinka Ljutic won the World Cup slalom season world championship title, especially because Shiffrin missed four of the 10 races.

The Slovak Petra Vlhova, the 2022 Olympic Slalom champion and the long-time rival of Shiffrin, missed the entire 2024-25 season. Vlhova has been on the road on January 20, 2024 since the race of at least one right knee tape and was then operated on.

Shiffrin’s focus next season will also be on giant slalom, her Olympic gold medal event from 2018. In February it was not driven with the GS in February, while she was still dealing with “mental obstacles”, which returned specifically from the fall on November 30th for the event.

In three World Cup -GS races to Worlds, she took February 25th (February 21), was not the top 30 for a second run (February 22nd) and drove out of her first run (March 8).

“To try to correspond to this level of the slalom with GS, where I want to go with GS, I have energy to do the work,” she said about the victory on Thursday. “It feels like it has a lot to do, but that gives me the inspiration to do that.”

The final of the World Cup raises air on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on NBC and. peacock.
