Missing Eureka man’s car found just outside city limits; Search continues | Lost Shore Outpost

Eureka Police Department:

On November 29, 2024, at approximately 2:52 p.m., Eureka Police officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of G Street for a missing person report. Michael Bounds’ family said he was last seen on November 27 around 6:00 p.m. Michael is a 60-year-old white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds. with a health condition that requires daily medication.

On November 30, a family member contacted EPD with a tip that Bounds’ 2006 silver Dodge Charger was located on Vance Avenue near Eureka Street in the jurisdiction of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. After his vehicle was located, HCSO Search & Rescue and CHP worked together to search green belts near where Bounds was last seen. Bounds’ vehicle was towed to a secure facility. The search for these green spaces is still active.

As EPD’s Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Analyst are actively working to locate Bounds, they would like to speak with potential witnesses who may have observed or had contact with Bounds since the night of November 27th. They are also working to locate surveillance footage of Bounds’ area where Bounds’ vehicle was located.
