MLB News: Aaron Richter reacts to be appointed Team USA captain

The two-time MVP-Slugger Aaron Judge from York Yankees will be the captain of the team of the Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, and he couldn’t be happier to run the stars and stripes against the best talent in the world on the diamond.

In the Yankee Stadium after the announcement, Team USA manager Mark Derosa said that he had asked the former captain Mike Trout for permission to name judges in the role. Derosa said the superstar of Los Angeles Angels replied: “He is one.”

Judge remembered Trout, which the USA’s most recent finale of the World Baseball Classic was out, where he waved the American flag when he went to the field.

The captain of Yankees understands the responsibility for which he was privileged, and he pointed out that everyone in the armed forces who allow him to do so.

“To hear this praise from you, hear the praise of Trouty, it is something special,” said Richter to Derosa during a press conference in the Yankee Stadium. “I have the chance to represent our country – I said it this morning – I only thought of all the brave men and women who fought for this country and laid their lives for us to get the chance to go here, especially go out here and play a game. It is a pretty modest experience.

“Happy to represent the USA and be happy to be your captain.”

Aaron Boone, Manager of Yankees, added: “In many ways, he is certainly one of the baseball face. Such a magnetic personality for whom people in the game love and respect. I think he will be great.”

While the judge is on board as captain of Team USA, the surrounding list will not be completed until next year. It was released in early February in 2023.

The presence of Richter, however, should make other great players from the United States to express their wish, to look at derosa to make the team.
