Morning accidents and delays complicate New Jersey roads





NEW JERSEY – A series of accidents and heavy traffic caused significant disruption on New Jersey roads during the morning commute, affecting major highways and bridges.

On northbound US 1 in Edison Township, a left lane was blocked by a crash north of Woodbridge Avenue at 8:06 a.m. In Maple Shade Township, a crash on northbound NJ 73 near CR 537/Main Street blocked a left lane, resulting in a 5-. 10 minute delays. Meanwhile, on US 22 westbound in Mountainside, a crash occurred west of CR 643/Summit Road, with one right lane closed.

In Fort Lee, a crash on the upper level of the westbound George Washington Bridge blocked three left lanes at mid-span as of 7:56 a.m., while delays on the lower level of the eastbound bridge resulted in travel times of 25 minutes and the Delays in upper levels eastbound became longer, travel time reaching 40 minutes.

Elsewhere, delays were reported on the southbound Garden State Parkway near Exit 137 in Cranford Township due to a crash blocking a right lane. Significant traffic was also seen at the Lincoln Tunnel, where travel time from New Jersey Turnpike Exit 16E to New York was 20 minutes for both the south and center tunnels.

Drivers have been advised to expect additional delays on I-295, the New Jersey Turnpike and other major routes due to heavy traffic congestion and bright sunlight.
