Moscow News, University of Idaho More than 600 students will graduate from U of I Winter Commencement

(Moscow, ID) More than 600 students will be eligible to receive 687 degrees at the University of Idaho’s Winter 2024 Commencement on Saturday, December 7, at the ICCU Arena in Moscow.

Ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. For more information about commencement, visit uidaho.edu/commencement.

The 621 eligible students who applied for graduation this fall applied for 16 associate degrees, 382 bachelor’s degrees, 188 master’s degrees, 33 doctoral degrees and six law doctorates. Another 60 will receive academic certificates and two will receive specialist certificates.

“Vandals continue to demonstrate that they have the courage and passion to make a difference in the world,” said U of I President Scott Green. “We look forward to seeing these newest Vandal alumni lead the way in shaping the future.”

U of I has graduated approximately 134,295 students with more than 144,010 degrees since it opened in 1889.

Kathleen Duncan, a prolific national volunteer, entrepreneur and leader, will deliver the opening remarks. She has served on the board of trustees of numerous institutions, including several universities as well as the California Science Center, the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and the Doheny Eye Institute. Duncan is also involved in several other nonprofit groups. Duncan married a Vandal alum – Randy Luten (class of 1983) – and has embraced the Vandal family. She regularly participates in Homecoming trips, Alumni Board rafting trips and Vandal ski trips.

Per the University’s safety protocols for large events, clear bags are required and attendees must pass through metal detectors. No bags are permitted for graduates.

Per University policy, no weapons, including knives or firearms, are permitted into the venue. The rule applies to concealed carry permit holders.

U of I is a tobacco-free campus. Alcoholic beverages may only be consumed in approved locations on university campuses.
