A mother shares which of her children’s names she would keep if she had the opportunity to name them again.

In a now-viral TikTok video that has garnered more than 797,000 views, creator Savannah Walsh talks about her children’s unique names and the stories behind them.

She begins by explaining that her eldest daughter’s name is Skylar, a name she chose together with the father of the girl she is no longer with. Although her daughter’s primary names are Sky or Kai, Walsh admits, looking back, that she probably wouldn’t choose that name for her today.

Next she talks about her oldest son, Mason, who is about 10 years old. Although she loves the name Mason, she admits that the inspiration came from Kourtney Kardashian.

“It grew in popularity and it’s so common, but I still stand by loving the name,” the mother says in her video. “But would I use it if we had it today? No, because it’s so popular. We try to avoid really common names.”

“Next is my daughter Briley,” she continues. “Briley just turned 7 years old. Briley was actually the name we chose when I was pregnant with Mason, in case Mason was a girl. My husband had a family member named Brian who passed away and he wanted to honor that. Somewhere along the way he developed Briley.

“We totally got used to it and carried it into our next pregnancy, which resulted in a girl and we named her Briley,” she adds. “To this day I would still call her that.”

Walsh then tells the story of her next child, Kennedy, who turned 6 in August. When the parents chose her name, their daughter was already 5 days old. Walsh explains that they didn’t know the gender of the baby during the pregnancy, so they had to constantly bounce ideas off each other.

Eventually, Walsh grew tired of the name debate and agreed with Kennedy Harley.

“I love Kenny,” Walsh says. “We call her Kenny all the time – it really suits her. But to be honest, I’m not at all attached to her full name. I wouldn’t call her that again.”

Their next son, Cullen, who turned four in July, was given a name that Walsh and her husband had had in mind since she was pregnant with Briley in hopes of having another boy. To this day she says she absolutely loves the name and would call him that again.

The couple’s two-year-old son, Porter, also has a unique name story.

“His name was on our list, but he wasn’t a top contender at all,” Walsh says. “Our top names – none of them suited him. I didn’t like any of them. We just started making our way through the list and got to Porter and that was it. We just looked at him and he was so clearly a “carrier.” ”

“I still love the name so much,” she adds. “We call him ‘P.’ I love the name. Ten out of ten would call him that again.

Finally, the couple’s youngest daughter, Alba, is named after an idea Walsh had while she was pregnant. She says that although she was fond of the name, her husband didn’t like it at first.

“For the record, my husband and I don’t agree at all on the names,” she says.

“When we got her, we kept going through our list of names and I kept mentioning Alba,” she continues. “His family is Scottish and he really wanted to incorporate something Scottish into the baby’s name. Alba, pronounced differently, was actually the original name for Scotland. When he found out, he said, ‘That’s 100% her name.’ ”

“I’m still in awe that I got this name because it’s my absolute favorite,” she concludes.

Since being posted, Walsh’s video has garnered nearly 600 comments from users sharing their thoughts on the names.

“Dear Alba here, I’m originally from Spain where it’s such a common name and I don’t see it often in the US 🥰,” one user wrote.

“I love the name Porter! Would be so cute for a girl too!” someone else wrote.

“I LOVE the name Cullen (and not just because of the twilight 😂),” another person replied.
