MTI IS DOING IT ALL TOGETHER NOW! Free for theaters affected by natural disasters

Theater licensor Music Theater International announced the creation of a special revue that will be offered free of charge to theaters significantly affected by natural disasters in the United States.

MTI’s All Together Now!: A Benefit Event for Disaster Relief is a show designed as a fundraiser for affected theaters and will be available in early 2025.

The first All Together Now!: A Global Event Celebrating Local Theater took place in November 2021, both to welcome audiences back to in-person theater and to support the thousands of theaters enduring difficult circumstances due to Covid-19 . A milestone was reached this November weekend – the most performances of a single show in one weekend. The event was attended by over 2,000 organizations from all 50 states and 31 countries. Nearly 5,000 individual performances were seen by approximately 500,000 viewers and grossed over $6.2 million (adjusted for local currencies), which was used to support the producing organizations.

Everyone together now!: A fundraiser for disaster relief is a recognition by MTI, its authors and rights holders that flexible support is often needed to help theaters continue to produce shows on their stages. From early 2025, organizations will be able to apply online for permission to perform the revue free of charge if they have been negatively affected by a disaster. The affected organization can apply for the license within two years of the disaster and the event will take place on a single weekend agreed by MTI. Detailed licensing parameters and an application portal will be available on MTI’s website early next year.

“Disasters are an unfortunate reality, and MTI wants to help the theaters directly affected by these tragedies,” said John Prignano, chief operations officer and director of education and development at MTI. “We are incredibly proud of the effort we put into our first All Together Now event and wanted to consistently provide our customers with something whenever they need it. This is one of the ways MTI can give back to the theater community – it’s important and just feels right.”

An outstanding group of authors, estates and rights holders have contributed their songs to the revue to date, including:

Lynn Ahrens, Howard Ashman, Sara Bareilles, Lionel Bart, Jason Robert Brown, Mindi Dickstein, Jack Feldman, Stephen Flaherty, Matthew Gerrard, Zina Goldrich, David Hein, Marcy Heisler, Jason Howland, Jonathan Larson, Alan Jay Lerner, Frank Loesser, Frederick Loewe, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez, Alan Menken, Tim Minchin, Robbie Nevil, Tim Rice, Irene Sankoff, Stephen Schwartz, Marc Shaiman, Richard M. Sherman, Robert B. Sherman, Glenn Slater, and Scott Wittman.

Drew Cohen, President and CEO of MTI, added: “The inaugural All Together Now event was made possible by the generosity of the writers who created the revue’s incredible hits. We are once again grateful for their collective support. We hope this show will make a difference to any theater experiencing a tragic event.”
