Muhammad reveals ‘perfect schedule’ for Shavkat Rakhmonov fight

As MMA Junkie reports, UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad set his sights on Shavkat Rakhmonov earlier this year.

Muhammad (24-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) was scheduled to face Rakhmonov (19-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in UFC 310 last month, but a bone infection kept him from competing.

Muhammad spent time training with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. The training sparked his interest in fighting again.

Ali Abdelaziz, Muhammad’s manager, told MMA Junkie that Muhammad should be back in the Octagon in May.

“Right after Ramadan, I think. May and June are the perfect time for me. I started training with these guys down in Vegas last week. It was a nice shock to the body,” Muhammad told MMA Junkie. “It woke me up. It let me know, “Okay, we need to get in shape.” So it just feels good to work out. I was at the PI. I did therapy there every day so my body finally got back to normal and back to where it was.”

Muhammad pulled out of UFC 310, Rakhmonov faced Ian Machado Garry in a five-round welterweight bout. Rakhmonov held off Machado Garry’s late attack and went the distance for the first time in his career.

Many in the UFC believe that Rakhmonov has lost his aura of invincibility after this fight, but Muhammad has a plan.

“There aren’t many people who have ever fought a guy like me, so once you get in the cage with me it’s different. He will go into the cage with me and realize that it is different and that there are different levels. “I’m going to show the world why I’m the best welterweight in the world,” Muhammad said.

It will be interesting to see whether Mohammed’s meticulousness against Rackhmonov will pay off.
