Murder and Delivery of Fentanyl Charges Issued | News

Among the indictments handed down during the November grand jury session were a murder charge against Chakera McNichol and first-degree felony charges against Samuel Jimenez and Tomas Juarez for delivery of more than 400 grams of fentanyl.

Walker County District Attorney Will Durham said the murder charge against McNichol involves a murder that occurred Feb. 4 at a Huntsville residence.

“It is alleged that defendant Chakera Roshawnn McNichol shot Kirsten Samuel with a firearm, causing her death. “McNichol is charged in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice with first-degree murder with a sentence of 5 to 99 years or life,” Durham said.

The murder was investigated by Detectives Joshua Coffin and Kevin Hammond of the Huntsville Police Department. The case was indicted by the Walker County Grand Jury on November 21, 2024 and is pending in the 12th Judicial District.

Defendant Supreia Marie Harrell was also charged with tampering with physical evidence in connection with this incident, accusing her of concealing the firearm to impair its availability as evidence. Tampering is a third-degree felony with a penalty of 2 to 10 years in prison, which Harrell faces in 12th District Court.

On a charge of delivery of a controlled substance (fentanyl) more than 400 grams, Tomas Navarrete Juarez and Samuel Gonzalez Jimenez were arrested July 19 in the 300 block of Interstate 45 North by Officer Viviano Villafuerte of the Huntsville Police Department.

“It is alleged that these defendants knowingly possessed fentanyl in an amount exceeding 400 grams,” Durham said.

They were indicted by the Walker County Grand Jury on Nov. 21 for the first-degree felony and their cases are pending in the 278th Judicial District Court. The penalty for this large amount of fentanyl is 15 years to life in prison in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
