Murder trial against Bob Lee: The jury begins deliberations about the stabbing death of the Cash App founder

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — The jury began deliberations on Wednesday in the murder trial of Nima Momeni, suspected of fatally stabbing Cash App founder Bob Lee last year.

Nima Momeni’s defense attorneys hope that the video they played, which shows Bob Lee allegedly using a knife to take drugs hours before his murder, will cast enough doubt on the jury’s mind about the origin of the murder weapon to kill Momeni to declare not guilty.

Twelve jurors must unanimously find Momeni guilty or not guilty of first-degree murder before they can potentially consider a lesser charge of second-degree murder. Likewise, they must unanimously find Momeni guilty or not guilty of second-degree murder before they can address the lesser charges of intentional or negligent homicide. If they cannot reach a unanimous decision on a higher charge, they must inform the judge. Jurors are not allowed to use the Internet during deliberations, but in this case they can examine all exhibits.
