Naresh Bhatt has been formally charged with the murder of wife Mamta Kafle, who has been missing since July

Naresh Bhatt, the Manassas Park man believed to have killed his wife Mamta Kafle Bhatt, has been formally charged with murder. He had previously been accused of hiding a body, but at the time of his arrest police had found no remains.

The charges now leveled against Naresh Batt include murder, physical defilement of a corpse and concealment of the corpse.

Mamta Kafle Bhatt has been missing since late July and investigators said early on that they believed she had been murdered. Authorities believe she likely died in a bloody fight in her home.

Naresh Bhatt was first arrested in August, but since her body couldn’t be found, he was charged with a sixth-degree felony. He was denied bail at the end of August.

Bhatt is a 37-year-old Indian American. He was not present at several searches for Mamta organized by friends and community members.
