Nascar Las Vegas results: Byron, Bowman, Larson, Elliott all in the top 10 … again!

Las Vegas – In the second week in a row, Hendrick Motorsports was a model of consistency to the west.

William Byron (fifth), Alex Bowman (seventh), Kyle Larson (ninth) and Chase Elliott (10th) scored top 10 placements on Sunday on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was the second race that ended all four organization cars in the top 10 after pulling the trick a week ago on the Phoenix Raceway.

During most of the race, a few Hendrick Motorsports watched teammates – Kyle Larson and William Byron – watched the role of cars that they should beat. They ended the second stage in first or second place and were at the forefront when the third stage started.

A total of nine precautions and the rash of yellow sent teams in a variety of different strategic directions. Since teams made two- and four treps stops while others were not plagued, cars appeared, disappeared and then reappeared when accidents cut off the fuel.

Hendrick Motorsports was certainly not immune. Larson and Byron belonged to a group of cars that came down the pit road to cross the fuel when a yellow in the third stage waved the third stage to make it to the end. The restart came with 67 remaining circuits, but someone else waved when Noah Gragson hit the wall with 25 left. Until then, Larson had gathered on the ninth and Byron 11.

At the subsequent restart, which turned out to be the last of the day, Byron quickly marched forward to demand third place, but fought with Ross Chastain – Josh Berry and Daniel Suarez.

As for Bowman and Elliott, both had to survive a battle of wear again. Bowman had to hurry up to the Pit Road early in the second stage and had to gather down from one round. Elliott had a speed penalty in the first stage and was also able to navigate back from behind. Both were moved by Bowman by large points in the first stage, with Bowman the second and Elliott third.

Larson led an event with the best 61 laps and exceeded Kevin Harvick for most career rounds that were led by Nevada’s 1.5 mile tri-ooval. He also achieved a racing high of 16 stage points.

The Cup series will return with a race on HomeSead Miami Speedway next week.
