Nashik man sentenced to four years in prison for attempted murder

Nashik: A 40-year-old man convicted of attempted murder about a romantic relationship with the complainant’s wife on Thursday. The District and Sessions Court convicted him in the case registered with the police in May 2010. The convict was accused of trying to kill the complainant so that he could continue his affair with his wife.
The District and Sessions Judge BV Wagh, after considering the statements of the complainant, witnesses and circumstantial evidence submitted to the court by the investigating officer, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to four years RI along with a fine of Rs 25,000.
APP Reshma Jadhav said a case of attempt to murder was registered with the Ambad police in May 2010. The complainant stated that it was a love marriage with his wife. However, four people from the same area were against his love marriage. He later learned that his wife was having an affair with one of the four people. Therefore, his wife and the other four people conspired to kill him.
On May 10, 2010, the convict tried to kill him by mixing a poisonous substance in his drink when they both were in Mumbai. As the plan failed, his wife’s mistress, on her way back to Nashik, tried to kill him with a sharp weapon on the Ghatandevi road section of the highway at around 4.30 am on May 14. He then reported a case to the Ambad police.
The case was investigated by private detective Kondiram Popere and subsequently assigned to Ambad police station. APP Reshma Jadhav said that the allegations against the four other accused could not be proved. The convict will have to spend another six months in RI if he fails to pay the fine of Rs 25,000 imposed on him.
