National Assistant Principals Week: Structure of strong campus through excellent leadership

From April 7th to 11th, Idea Public Schools recognizes the national deputy school week! This is a time when we recognize the hard work and the commitment of our deputy headmaster for operations (APOS) and deputy headmaster (APIs). These managers play a major role in making our schools safe, successful and supportive for pupils, teachers and families.

Our campus leadership teams are of essential importance for everyday things that make our campus a great place to learn and a great place for working. Let’s meet two incredible deputy headmaster who make a difference every day!

Denise Franco, APO at Idea Horizon Vista – El Paso

As deputy director of operations at Idea Horizon Vista, the headmaster Denise Franco ensures that your campus runs like a well -oiled machine so that the teachers can concentrate on the lessons and concentrate on learning. From the management of daily logistics to monitoring security, visitors and facilities, it is about creating a smooth and structured environment.

Franco begins her morning by checking her calendar and writing out her priorities and memories. It will also carry out a campus procedure to ensure that all doors are closed and function properly. One of her greatest priorities is to ensure that every scholar feels safe from the moment when he steps on campus.

Every day she leads the meeting of the average daily visitor number (ADA) on campus with their managers, consultants, SIS coordinator and registrar. They go through the daily visit, at the same time analyze trends and strategically how they can best support families to bring their scholars to school.

Since Idea Horizon Vista opened his doors in 2020, director Denise Franco has been an important figure to not just lead the campus, but also to expand his community. She was able to see her scholars grown up while she connects with her families. Undoubtedly, she says her students are the one who inspires them every morning when they come in with their big smile (or sleepy faces). She knows that she has the chance to brighten her days.

Nora Cuevas, API at Idea Toros – Rio Grande Valley

No day for the deputy director of lessons at Idea Toros, director Nora Cuevas, looks like. On some days she focuses on lessons by watching classrooms and doing lessons. On other days, she will monitor the test planning and preparation of the test. With a mixture of different responsibilities, she constantly changes the focus to ensure that every area of ​​your work receives attention.

It is a central part of your role to ensure that the students receive the lesson support that they are on the right track for completion. She maintains communication with teachers and team leaders of the class team to stay up to date where the students are on their academic journey.

Another essential part of their role is the trainer of their teachers. Cuevas, who were often described as “deeply passionate” by her colleagues, always believes in examples of always ready to roll up their sleeves and support them directly in the classroom. By promoting open dialogue and open communication, it tries to create a culture of mutual support and accountability.

After her founding teacher in 2016, she was not only with Idea Toros and could not only see how her students develop and thrive further, but also the campus. Every day she is awe of her teachers, many of whom teach several subjects.

It is worthwhile that she can also see her progress and growth professionally. Cuevas believes that they are the heart and soul of the school and she is proud to work with them every day.
