Overview of the NBA Cup on Tuesday: 11 games, five quarterfinal places still to be decided.

The tournament’s group play concludes Tuesday night when five more teams join Houston, Golden State and Atlanta in the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup. And there are still 13 teams in the running for the last five spots in the quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals will take place on December 10th and 11th. The winners of the quarterfinals will travel to the semifinals in Las Vegas on December 14th.

All games in the tournament – with the exception of the championship game on December 17th – count in the regular season rankings and statistics. The championship game is considered an extra and is not part of the 82-game season of the two teams that reach the final.

The NBA Cup was designated an in-season tournament when it debuted last year after years of commissioner Adam Silver trying to add something special to the regular season.

Here’s how to watch

TNT will have a doubleheader on Tuesday: Memphis-Dallas and Golden State-Denver.

There will be a quarterfinal doubleheader on December 10th on TNT. A quarterfinal game will be broadcast on ESPN on December 11, followed by another on TNT.

TNT will show the first Cup semifinal from Las Vegas on December 14 at 4:30 p.m. Eastern, followed by the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. on ABC. The championship game will air Dec. 17 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on ABC.

As usual, local broadcasts will also be available when NBA rules allow.

More triple doubles

What is at stake?

To the winners: pride, a trophy and money.

Players on the winning team will each receive $514,971, while $205,988 will go to each player on the runner-up, $102,994 to players whose teams lost in the semifinals, and $51,497 to the players whose teams lost in the quarterfinals have lost.

What you should know

If teams are eliminated in group play, two additional games will be added to their schedule. These games will be scheduled soon and will begin next week. If teams are eliminated in the quarterfinals, another game will be added to them.

All teams have only 80 games scheduled so far in the regular season, but will play 82. That’s why the title game doesn’t count; For these teams, it would be the 83rd game (the 80 games already scheduled, then the quarterfinals, then the semifinals, that’s their 82 games).
