New films and series coming to Netflix in December: “Squid Game” and more

Every month, Netflix adds movies and TV shows to its library. Here are our picks for some of December’s most promising new titles for US subscribers. In this twisty thriller created by Joe Barton (known for the stylish series “Giri/Haji” and “The Lazarus Project”), Keira Knightley plays the role of Helen, a secret agent who is so well undercover that she… is married to the British politician she spies on – and is the mother of his children. When Jason (Andrew Koji), a man with whom Helen had an affair, is publicly murdered by London gangsters, Helen’s boss Reed (Sarah Lancashire) and her close colleague Sam (Ben Whishaw) try to keep the murder investigation going. to resort to her and blow her cover. “Black Doves” is set in a pulp fiction version of England where everyone is hiding something and no one completely trusts anyone – a place where information is the currency and people thrive on cunning.

“Maria,” the third film in director Pablo Larraín’s biopic trilogy (after “Jackie” and “Spencer”), is a showcase for Angelina Jolie, who plays opera diva Maria Callas. Set in the last week of the singer’s life, the film shows Callas in a drug binge as she imagines herself sitting for an interview in which she reflects on her tumultuous life. Jolie reportedly spent months in opera training not to learn how to imitate Callas’ voice, but to ensure she could stand, move and breathe like a master.

As this gritty dramedy begins, a Los Angeles couple, Paul (Ray Romano) and Lydia (Lisa Kudrow), are desperate to sell their home: a beautiful, century-old home in an upscale neighborhood. A handful of motivated buyers, played by Luke Wilson, Linda Cardellini, Teyonah Parris, OT Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson and Poppy Liu, circle the property as Paul and Lydia try to hide their secret reasons for selling – and their relationship with a dangerous one Ex-con played by Denis Leary. Similar to creator Liz Feldman’s previous Netflix series Dead to Me, No Good Deed is about people who appear to have material success on the outside, but whose personal lives are in shambles; Privately, they all feel like they are on the brink of catastrophe.
