New technologies are enabling restaurants to find their customers in new ways, according to a study by TheFork – Retail Technology Innovation Hub

More controversial tactics like “dynamic pricing” are also on the rise, with chains like Wendy’s expected to adopt them in 2025.

Like so many other industries, the advancement of AI tools accelerated in 2024 and this trend is expected to continue in 2025. Restaurants like Dishoom introduced an AI tool for inventory management that reduced food waste by 20%.

In addition, innovations such as “attendance prediction” enable restaurants to create the best possible value for their guests. Major chains like Burger King have implemented a system where technology collects various criteria (weather, time of year, major local events, etc.) to predict visitor numbers, giving them the ability to adjust staffing and inventory levels accordingly.

“The UK’s eating habits are evolving as people look for ways to enjoy good food out without breaking the bank,” says Patrick Hooykaas, Regional Managing Director at TheFork.

“Our data shows that guests continue to value value for money. Looking ahead to 2025, we expect the focus on affordable dining to also increase as the cost of living rises, and we’re excited to continue supporting guests and restaurants alike by offering even more ways to discover and enjoy incredible meals enjoy prizes.”
