‘Next Sancho’ wanted by Liverpool and Arsenal as ‘initial discussions’ take place over ‘future transfer’

Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are all reportedly interested in signing the ‘next Jadon Sancho’.

Sancho played for Borussia Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 before moving Manchester United for a whopping £73 million.

Dortmund sensation Jamie Gittens is hoping to follow in Sancho’s footsteps with a move to the Premier League but will be hoping for more success than the 24-year-old, now on loan at Chelsea.

Gittens came through Reading’s youth academy before being signed by Manchester City, who let him join the German giants on a free transfer in September 2020.

He made his senior national team debut under Edin Terzic in the DfB Cup in July 2022 against 1860 Munich.

His importance has grown from year to year and the 20-year-old is now a key figure under Nuri Sahin.

He has scored an impressive 11 goals in 18 games in all competitions this season, including four goals in five Champions League games.

This form has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs including arsenalLiverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing the ‘next Sancho’

Accordingly Sky GermanyAll four are “interested” in signing Gittens, who has been dubbed “the next Sancho”.

It is claimed that “initial discussions” have begun between some Premier League clubs and the Dortmund management “to inquire about the situation for a possible transfer in the future”.

However, Dortmund are not worried as Gittens “feels comfortable” in Germany and “wants to make a splash” this season.

According to reports, there is constant contact between Gittens and his agent Emeka Obasi and the player is contracted until 2028, so the club is relaxed.

There is no exit in the club’s plans, but the young winger “sees himself in England in the future” and Dortmund are “reliant on income”, so could cash in next summer in the hope that they can get another big transfer fee received, as they did for Jude Bellingham and Ousmane Dembélé.

Gittens appears destined to play for England in 2025 after making 11 appearances for the U21s.

The 20-year-old will be back in action on Saturday in the classic against Bayern Munich.

Asked if the game was going as usual, Gittens said: “No, of course. Bayern Munich – obviously a massive opponent.

“The rivalry we’ve had in recent years – Dortmund and Bayern – has been really intense, so it’s not a normal game.

“I can’t say it’s a normal game because it’s not, but in Dortmund we know we have to win this game to make people feel good and winning this game would be a big relief for everyone .”

He added: “Bayern – they are a very aggressive team at the top. They are creative on the ball.

“A lot of tricky players, like (Michael) Olise. He was on my team at Reading. I met him when I was 14 so it will be nice to play against him. I know him a little.

“Then they have other qualities like Jamal (Musiala), (Leroy) Sane, (Kingsley) Coman – they are really dangerous, so we have to be careful and play a good game against Bayern.”

“He (Harry Kane) is probably one of the best strikers in the world. I haven’t really spoken to him. He is a great striker. He did that for years in the Premier League with Tottenham.

“If he does it now at FC Bayern, he will be a top player. We have to be careful with him in this game. He’s a threat to our team.”
