The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking for their next head coach, which is increasingly looking like it will be Bill Belichick.

Although Belichick never coached at the college level, he is the greatest football coach of all time. He won six Super Bowls as the leader of the former New England Patriots dynasty, is a three-time AP NFL Coach of the Year and was instrumental in the development of Tom Brady, the greatest football player of all time.

Brady later won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, while Belichick and New England parted ways after the 2024 NFL season.

Despite all of Belichick and Brady’s years together – and Brady knowing Belichick better than anyone outside of his family – Brady revealed why he doesn’t think Belichick will coach at the college level.

“He can do a lot, and obviously he’s great and even shows his personality,” Brady said of Belichick on Fox NFL Sunday. “But going on the recruiting trail and dealing with all these college students.”

Brady also poked fun at his former head coach a bit in the studio and imagined what Belichick would sound like during a recruiting interview.

“Listen, you really want to come here,” Brady said with a scowl on his face. “I mean, we don’t really want you anyway, but I guess you could come. We’ll find out if you play.”

UNC has not yet hired Belichick (as of Monday, Dec. 9), despite having mutual interest. After watching Belichick on the sidelines of the NFL for all these years, I wouldn’t be surprised if he continues to wait for a decision.

However, if I’m from North Carolina, I’m hiring Belichick as quickly as possible. It’s not often that a legendary coach like Belichick comes sniffing around.
