NFL star QB gives young Oregon fans a piece of league history

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen left 12-year-old Malachi Weems in a state of shock.

The star quarterback had just made history after rushing for a touchdown in the Bills’ 35-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday. Allen became the first NFL quarterback to score a passing, receiving and rushing touchdown in the same game.

Allen scored on an 8-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

After a celebration with his teammates, Allen trotted to the stands and handed the football to a stunned Weems.

“I just passed out,” Weems told reporter Michael Schwartz of WKBW-TV in Buffalo.

Weems, a huge Bills fan, attended his first-ever NFL game in Buffalo after his parents surprised him with a trip and tickets to the game for his 12th birthday. Weems, who lives in Merrill, Oregon, was dressed head to toe in Bills gear for the game, which was covered in snow, adding to the excitement for the young fan.

Weems learned about Allen’s historic play and the importance of football. He was more than willing to give the ball back to Allen, but Allen said Weems was able to keep the ball.

“I gave it away for a reason,” Allen told Schwartz. “I have enough game balls and game memorabilia. The stuff I put away I never see and it doesn’t have much meaning to me. I hope whoever has it enjoys it and can keep it.”
