Norman Powell’s injury status updated ahead of Clippers vs. Wizards

After their loss in Boston on Monday night, the LA Clippers play their last game before Thanksgiving on Wednesday night at the Washington Wizards. Maybe you could say this looks like another trap game, but the Clippers should have a good chance to go to Capital One Arena and get a win.

The Wizards currently sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with a record of just 2-14. They have the longest active losing streak in the association, having lost their last 12 games in a row. Either way, this is an extremely winnable game for LA, especially given the good basketball the Clippers have been playing lately.

Before their scheduled loss to the Celtics, the Clippers had won their last five straight games and held four of those opponents under 100 points. They are currently running at full speed. The biggest question heading into Wednesday’s contest is the availability of LA’s leading scorer Norman Powell.

Powell has missed the Clippers’ last four games with a hamstring strain. This is the type of injury that players usually try to play it safe with, as improper treatment and quick recovery from a hamstring strain can often lead to ongoing problems in the near or distant future.

Norman is currently listed as questionable on the Clippers’ injury report. This designation means he has been upgraded from the team’s last official injury report, which was released on Monday. That report listed Powell as having resigned.

According to The Athletic’s Clippers reporter Law Murray, Powell was present at the team’s shootaround Wednesday morning. According to Murray’s report, Powell entered the facility with the rest of the team instead of arriving early as he normally does for away games.

Mo Bamba (recovering from a left knee injury), Kobe Brown (back soreness) and Norman Powell (left hamstring strain) are all questionable.

Cam Christie (in action), Trentyn Flowers (two-way), Kawhi Leonard (recovering from a right knee injury) and PJ Tucker (not with the team) are all out.

Jordan Poole (sore left hip flexor) is questionable.

Saddiq Bey (recovering from cruciate ligament surgery on his left knee), Tristan Vukcevic (bruised left knee) and Justin Champagnie (G League tackle) are all out.
