North Carolina woman pregnant at time of her murder

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – New and disturbing details in a Charlotte murder case from earlier this month revealed that a female victim shot during an attempted robbery was pregnant at the time of her murder, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced on announced on Thursday.

Officers responded to calls about the incident on Wednesday, November 13, around 3:30 p.m. near 5400 Strive Street in north Charlotte. 33-year-old Jameisha Wilkes was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene.

Dasean Maddox, 32, was identified as the suspect and was later arrested in Cabarrus County and charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Further investigation revealed that Wilkes was pregnant and added an additional charge of murder of an unborn child to Maddox. Maddox was also accused of stealing Wilkes’ cell phone during the incident. He is being held without bail in Mecklenburg County.

The case will be heard by a grand jury, according to a decision from the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office on Monday.

Incident Command, CSI, Victim Services, Paramedics and CFD were among the departments that responded to the scene. Det. Trietley is the lead in the case.
