Northeast Missouri family asks for help getting through medical crisis

A Northeast Missouri native and her husband need your help to get through a difficult time.

Ashley (Bondy) Kuse grew up in Atlanta, Missouri and graduated from Atlanta High School.

She and her husband Tony Kuse moved to Hannibal in 2020, where both are teachers and Tony is also a tennis coach.

Tony is currently unable to work as he has to undergo dialysis three to four hours a week.

When he was 19 years old, Kuse originally lost his kidneys due to Goodpasture syndrome.

In 2006 he received his first kidney transplant.

It worked well for many years, but eventually it failed, and he was lucky enough to get a second match using cadaver-donated kidneys.

That fall, Kuse began experiencing serious health problems and a biopsy confirmed that his transplanted kidneys were no longer viable, meaning he had to go back on dialysis full-time.

Due to the long period of dialysis, Kuse has no longer been able to teach since his illness.

Kuse is currently completing home dialysis training and hopes to return to teaching next semester.

Meanwhile, Kuse, his wife and their four children struggle to pay their bills using Ashley’s income alone.

They look into disability and other income options, but nothing will help for months.
