Channing Tatum makes a splash in the psychological horror film “Blink Twice,” now on Amazon Prime Video. The thriller is the directorial debut of Zoë Kravitz, who also co-wrote the film, and follows friends Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) as they are invited to a party on a private island owned by a tech billionaire (Tatum ) heard ). The dream vacation quickly turns into a nightmare when they learn the sinister reason for the invitation. Available on Amazon Prime Video

Enter the arena with director Ridley Scott’s blockbuster sequel Gladiator II, now on Paramount+. This time it’s Paul Mescal who dons the gladiator armor as Lucius, a warrior with a deep connection to Russell Crowe’s character from the first film, who we won’t spoil here. Also in the cast are Pedro Pascal as General Acacius, Denzel Washington as the scene-stealing Macrinus and Connie Nielsen, who returns to the role of Lucilla. Available on Paramount+

Take a look at New Hampshire director Robert Eggers’ latest horror story, “Nosferatu,” available on video-on-demand platforms this week. In this retelling of FW Murnau’s 1922 silent film Vampire, Lily-Rose Depp stars as Ellen, a woman who, along with her husband Thomas (Nicholas Hoult), finds themselves in a creepy love triangle with the creepy Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård). as the main character becomes involved in chaos in the couple’s small German town. Willem Dafoe also plays the occult professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz. Available to rent or purchase on video-on-demand platforms

It’s hard to believe that “Saturday Night Live” is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. For fans looking to take a trip back to the beginning, director Jason Reitman offers viewers a glimpse into what went on behind the scenes during the series’ first episode with his comedy biopic Saturday Night, fittingly arriving on Netflix in 1975 took place on Saturday. See “SNL” legends played by fresh faces, including Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner and Matt Wood as John Belushi. Available on Netflix from January 25th

Director and writer Chris Sanders’ animated adventure The Wild Robot, a critical darling and box office hit, is now streaming on Peacock. Globe film critic Odie Henderson had high praise for the flick, calling it “one of the biggest surprises of 2024” and one of the rare films that “is running at full speed” in his four-star review. The animated science fiction film centers on a robot named Roz (Lupita Nyong’o), who forms a bond with the local wildlife after his ship crash-lands on an alien planet. Available on Peacock

Gabriel Basso is back as FBI agent and (now former) lowly night operator Peter Sutherland in Season 2 of The Night Agent, now streaming on Netflix. After a midnight phone call led to Sutherland becoming embroiled in a web of conspiracies in Washington and foiling an attack on the president, Basso’s hero becomes a full-fledged agent on overseas field missions in the new season. But trouble doesn’t take long to come. Available on Netflix

Before the series wraps up with its final episodes next month, check out Netflix’s hit martial arts action comedy “Cobra Kai,” a spinoff of the popular “Karate Kid” films. Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso and William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence go from in-ring rivals to middle-aged mentors as they teach a new generation to sweep the leg. And don’t worry, “Karate Kid” fans, after the end of “Cobra Kai,” the franchise will continue later this year with “Legends,” which features Jackie Chan and Macchio on the big screen. Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays an author who begins to question her marriage after she finds out her husband isn’t a fan of her latest book, “You Hurt My Feelings,” streaming on Netflix starting Sunday. The Globe’s film critic called the 2023 film the “gentlest of horror comedies,” with Henderson noting in his four-star review that it’s “a cautionary tale about the little white lies we tell those we love.” Available on Netflix from January 26th
