The National Security Agency calls on the users of Apple and Android to change two specific settings on their phones to prevent possible cyber attacks.

The security authority raises awareness of the linked device and group connection settings, which can fully clone your text messages on the device of another.

Signal and WhatsApp users are susceptible to attacks about these two popular functions of the apps that make them easier, but also more susceptible to exploitation.

With linked devices, users can access their synchronized text messages on their approved devices.

This means that if you have WhatsApp or signal on your phone, you can also access this messages on your laptop or iPad.

With the group connection setting, users can invite other people with a link to a group chat instead of adding them manually.

Both functions have their advantages, but the linked devices can prove to be more harmful.

If they are abused or hacked, the function can synchronize all text messages of the user on an unknown device.

Fortunately, it is easy to prevent this from happening.

Go to the setting menu and click on “Linked devices”.

Under this tab, users can display all devices for which their messages are synchronized.

If the user does not recognize any of the devices on the list, he can remove his messages from the device.

Users that you accidentally die can adjust at any time.

In order to prevent a similar attack from occurring, users should continuously check which devices are connected to their apps.

Experts also recommend dying and preventing web apps regularly.

The warning takes place on Google and discovered that Russian GRU officials prompted the Ukrainian leaders to open their signal apps so that they can listen to talks, reported Forbes.

The Russian phishing attack came in the form of a group link that had been co-opted to link devices with users who had clicked on it.

Google reported that this threat “extends to other popular messaging applications such as whatsapp and telegram, which are also actively attacked by Russian threats with similar techniques”.

Signal reacted to the weakness memo published by the Pentagon by installing new in-app warnings.

The app said that it is constantly paying attention to new reports on cyber attacks or fraud.

Users are asked to change their passwords or app pencils regularly and not give personal information.

Signal has recently been the focus of a journalist for the Atlantic wrongly added to a group chat by top security officers.

Trump’s national security advisor, Mike Waltz, accidentally added journalist Jeffrey Goldberg to a group chat in which the officials discussed plans for an air raid in Yemen.

The Atlantic initially kept information in the group chat, but finally published screenshots of news in chat.

Trump said NBC News that Waltz “learned a lesson” and “accused an employee” of adding the group’s journalists.
