ForbesNyt ‘beaches’ information, Spangram and answers for Wednesday, January 29th

A very interesting puzzle today and not the first time that you did something like that. I hope you have a certain level of literary knowledge because you need it to go far here.

How to play strands

The New York Times’ Strands Puzzle is a piece for the classic word search. It is in the beta for now, which means that it only stays that way if there are enough people every day.

There is a new game of Strands Play every day. The game presents you a six times eight grids with letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common and you get an indication of what this topic is. If you find a topic, it remains highlighted in blue.

You also have to find a special word called Spangram. This tells them what the words have in common. The Spangram connects two opposite sides of the board. While the themed words are not a real name, the Spangram can be a real name. If you find the Spangram, it remains yellow.

Each letter is used once in one of the themed words and Spangram. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and it is possible to change directions in the middle of a word. If you play on a touchscreen, double the letter to submit your guess.

If you find three valid words from at least four letters that are not part of the topic, you will unlock the button of the information. When you click on it, the letters are highlighted from which one of the themed words are made.

Be warned: you have to be busy. Sometimes you have to fill the missing word (s) in a phrase. On other days, the game about synonyms or homophones can revolve. The difficulty will vary every day, and the puzzle creators will sometimes surprise them.

What is today’s strands?

The NYT note is long today, but I will be a shorter one afterwards. This note is:

Hold on forests on a snow -covered evening

And my hint is:

Poems in motion

What are today’s answers?

The Spangram will be in the first place, but I will get things messed up after the released:

Frostpoem

And here you will find that on the board:

Before I do the full answer list, I will do something unique and publish the full text of the poem to see if you can get the answers out alone:

Whose forests are I, I know.
However, his house is in the village;
He won’t see me here
To see his forests with snow.

My little horse has to keep it strange
Without stopping a farmhouse nearby
Between the forest and the frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He shakes his belt bells
To ask if there is a mistake.
The only other noise is the sweep
Of simple wind and thirst.

The forests are beautiful, dark and deep,
But I have promise to keep
And go miles before I sleep
And go miles before I sleep.

And the answer list:

  • FROZEN
  • DARK
  • DEEP
  • Bell
  • SHAKE
  • SLEEP
  • NICE
  • LAKE

Did you get it with the poem? I thought it could be a little more fun than just a pure answer list. Let me know whether you liked it or not, and I will take it into account for the future.
