Obituary: Alexis Jo ‘Lexi’ Newton, 25, Bardstown

Alexis Jo “Lexi” Newton, 25, from Bardstown, Died on Thursday, April 3, 2025, surrounded in her house by her loving family. She was born on November 10, 1999 as the son of Jeremy Joe Newton and Jacqueline Michelle Hilbert.

She defied all chances of winning after she had diagnosed leukodystrophy (canavan disease), and she only received life for three years. She was able to keep loved care due to her strong will, her beautiful spirit and the meticulous care and the lover.

She brightened the darkest rooms with her smile and her infectious belly laugh. Although she never spoke, she was a teacher and a guide for everyone who knew her. She let her eyes speak for her, everyone who gained a look could see her true intelligence and deep love for all around them.

Her grandfather maternal, James “Jim” Hilbert, had preceded her in death. And her grandparents paternal, Jerry and Linda Newton.

She is survived by her parents Jeremy and Jacque Newton from Bardstown; A sister, Janet Newton from Springfield; Two brothers, Devan (Ariel) Newton and Landon Miller, both from Bardstown; Her grandmother maternal, Janet Hilbert from Bardstown; Her uncle Jamie (Shellie) Hilbert from Bardstown; Her aunt Wendy (Travis) What from Bardstown; and five cousins, Zack (Courtney) Hilbert from Springfield, Layne, Adam, Jack and Kade.

The funeral takes place Monday, April 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the funeral institute in Houghlin-Greenwell in Bardstown with Dr. James Carroll and Kaplan Ray Johnson. The funeral takes place on the Bardstown Cemetery.

The visit is Monday, April 7, 2025 from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Houghhlin Greenwell Funeral Home is responsible for arrangements.
