Of all the impressive stats and achievements that Victor Wembanyama achieved early in his career, this one is perhaps the craziest

You know, it’s been a while since we’ve been updated on all the ridiculous crap Victor Wembanyama is doing on the basketball court, and I can’t think of a better time for a little reminder of what’s going on in San Antonio right now . From a team perspective, we are seeing the progress unfold right before our eyes, with SA sitting at 15-13 in 9th place in the West, just one game behind the 5 seed (DEN). I’m pretty sure the majority of the basketball world didn’t understand that phrase as a real phrase a few days before Christmas, but here we are.

As for Wemby, he’s continued to do things that melt your brain, like his easy 30-point, 10-block performance the other night

I remind you that this performance was based on his 42/6/5/4/2 in the 13-24 (7-15) against the Hawks in the Spurs’ previous game. Over the last 15 or so games, Wemby has been simply amazing and someone to definitely keep an eye on every night.

Since he joined the league I have written many blogs about some crazy Wemby stats or moments that shouldn’t have been possible but actually happened. It’s part of the gig when a generational talent does things the league has never seen before.

Well, I’m not sure there’s a statistic in every statistic and blog that has freaked me out as much as this one

I’m sorry… Excuse me?

Even if you counter that and say Wemby is taller than 99.5% of NBA players, let me remind you that Victor Wembanyama has only played in 94 career games and has 341 blocks. Not being a maths person at all, I was sure that this was just Wemby propaganda and there was no way it could be true and that I would get JMac.

In total, there were around 5,000 players who played at least one game in the NBA. If you look at Career Leaders in blocks, you’ll see that Ed Davis is 250th (as far as basketball references go) with 566. So essentially Ed Davis has more blocks than about 95% of NBA players.

He played 722 games.

Suddenly that Wemby number doesn’t sound so crazy anymore. I mean it’s crazy but you know what I mean,

Considering Wemby had 254 blocks last year (leading the NBA) and is already leading the NBA again this year with 87 in 23 games, I think it’s fair to assume he finished the year around 250 blocks. Mark completes unless he gets injured for the second time in a row. If he plays roughly the 71 games he played last year, we’re talking about 500 blocks in just 140 career games.

At this rate, Wemby would overtake Ed Davis and enter the all-time top 250 in just 2.25 seasons before even reaching his age 23 season. This is legitimately crazy.

While you might have expected Wemby to one day dominate the blocks category due to his size and length, the fact that he has a history of making such a big breakthrough even 100 games into his career is probably something in itself the biggest Wemby fan has done I don’t see it coming. All this talk about him being bullied and not being able to handle the strength of the NBA. Well, it looks like Wemby is the one doing the bullying and he’s just getting started.
