Officers find man slumped in car with gun: Bay Village Police Blotter

On November 17, a Samurai Dynasty employee reported that the doors at her workplace were open. When she entered her workplace, she noticed items being searched. Officers responded and were met by the owner and employees. The owner reported that several items were stolen from the store. Officials are investigating.

Hit Skip, Juneway Drive

On November 19, a contractor working on a home reported a hit-and-run accident. The contractor said he parked a vehicle and when he came out, the rear driver’s side was damaged. Officers discovered that white paint was spilled onto the damaged area. Officers have documented the incident and will investigate the matter if further information becomes available.

Weapons, Clague Road

On November 22, officers responded to a report of a car stopped in the roadway with the driver slumped over the wheel. The officers found the car and packed it up because it was still in gear. When officers contacted the driver, they discovered there was a gun on his lap.

Mutual aid was requested and officers began giving commands to the driver. The driver didn’t react. The officers hurled pepper balls into the car. This caused the driver to get out of the car where he was arrested.

After receiving medical treatment, he was returned to the Bay Village Police Department Jail for evaluation. The man was then transported and taken to the Cuyahoga County Jail. The 34-year-old Garfield Heights resident was charged with weapons possession while under disability, drug possession, weapon use while under the influence, OVI, driving under suspension and seat belt violation. He will be arraigned in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
