OJ Simpson’s former bodyguard had no murder confession, police find

What would have been a wild story was quickly quashed Tuesday when Bloomington police released a statement clarifying that they were not in possession of a recorded murder confession from OJ Simpson.

TMZ reported Tuesday afternoon that Bloomington police may have unknowingly come into possession of such a recording after arresting a former bodyguard of Simpson’s more than two years ago.

But about two hours after that report was published, suburban police sent out a statement saying that the property seized during Iroc Avelli’s arrest had been inspected and that officers had found “no information of evidence to the Los Angeles Police Department.” “.

According to police, the following happened:

Bloomington police arrested Avelli on March 3, 2022, on suspicion of assault. According to a statement, police confiscated several items, including a backpack that contained several USB sticks.

They said Avelli and his attorney said one of the USB drives in the backpack contained a recording of Simpson confessing to the infamous 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, according to Bloomington police.

A search warrant was issued to examine the USB sticks. TMZ obtained a copy dated June 26, which said only that the results of the search were “pending.”
