On Monday it will be colder and stay mostly dry

Happy Sunday evening everyone. Luckily, the stubborn cloud cover we had this morning dissipated before the afternoon began. This allowed highs to climb back into the low to mid 40s at the end of today’s holiday weekend. Looking ahead, some high pressure areas will keep us colder than normal over the next few days before a quick warm-up can occur.

While this situation keeps us cold tonight and colder than normal on Monday, an upper level wave will move across the St. Louis area on Monday. While this path reduces the chance of snow showers to our east, we will see clouds increase across much of the Missouri Ozarks in the morning before returning to partly sunny conditions in the afternoon. Northern Arkansas will see more partly to mostly sunny skies this day.

Despite the temperature fluctuations and the numbers rising again next weekend, we will remain dry this week. However, there are still signs that our next storm system will form and head our way with our next best chance of rain (possibly even wintry weather) on December 9th and 10th. That would be next Monday and Tuesday.

As for temperatures, most will see lows in the mid to upper 20s Monday morning. Then highs will fluctuate significantly throughout the day due to clouds and another blast of colder air. Areas along and north of a line from Stockton to Bolivar, Lebanon and Salem may struggle to see highs climb into the low to mid 30s. While the rest of the Ozarks in Missouri will see highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s, the warmest values will be in the mid 40s in northern Arkansas. With a northwest wind blowing between 15 and 25 mph at times, this could easily put wind chills in the 30s for many.
