“Only Murders in the Building” introduces a mysterious guest star in the season four finale

Just murders goes far beyond the building this season as Charles, Mabel and Oliver travel to Hollywood. The trio’s true-crime podcast has caught the attention of studio executives (particularly those at Paramount Pictures), who are eager to turn the audio sensation into a film. So the unlikely friends fly to the West Coast for intimidating board meetings, a few In-N-Outs, and a glitzy opening party where they mingle with the stars, including those cast in their film. Since this chapter is set in Los Angeles, there are plenty of opportunities for celebrity cameo appearances. Those previously reported include Eva Longoria, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy and many more. Naturally, OMitB is no stranger to famous guest stars. As the series’ popularity grew over the years, Amy Schumer, Cara Delevingne, Paul Rudd, and even Meryl Streep took part in the series. (And remember when they had Sting?)

But let’s not forget that this is, after all, a crime thriller. As star-studded as the ensemble cast may be, they could emerge as suspects – or even potential future targets – this season. At the moment, the victim is Charles’ body double Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), who was shot dead in his apartment at the end of season three. As the podcasters try to solve the case, here are some of the famous faces they encounter along the way.

Ron Howard

The A beautiful spirit The director appears as himself while filming a science fiction film on a New York studio lot. He is also an old friend (if you can call it that) of Oliver and has a strange connection to the case of Sazz Pataki. He directed her and her stunt protégé during a film titled The Ronkonkoma Project.

Melissa McCarthy

The Bridesmaids And Gilmore Girls Alum appears in episode 7 as Charles’ younger sister from Long Island, Doreen, who has a knack for collecting dolls and gives her children names starting with D and, surprisingly, Oliver. The latter part gets her into trouble with his girlfriend Loretta, and the two argue in her living room.

Griffin Dunne

Dunne, who appeared in my girl And After hours and directed Practical magic And Joan Didion: The center won’t holdis the mysterious Dudenoff. He was the brothers-sisters’ film professor and also lived in the west tower of the Arconia.

John McEnroe

The tennis star appears in Episode 5 while Oliver is outside Arconia trying to recreate Sazz’s murder for research purposes. When Oliver yells at a group of small children in his own way, McEnroe, supposedly a stranger on the street, responds with a display of his infamous temper. “Shouting at children? Are you serious?!” he shouts and then chases Oliver into the Arconia.

Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd returns! But wait, wasn’t his character the murder victim last season? That’s true, but Rudd doesn’t slip into his role as actor Ben Glenroy here; Instead, he introduces Glen Stubbins, Ben’s Irish stunt double, which explains their uncanny resemblance.

Jane Lynch

Just because Sazz is gone doesn’t mean Jane Lynch is gone too. She resumes her role as Sazz in Charles’ subconscious when he begins seeing visions of her during the investigation.

Richard Kind

The well-known character actor appears as “Stink-Eye Joe,” a suspicious resident of the Acronia’s west tower. His real name is Vince Fish, and his “stinky eye” is actually a bad case of “rose-colored eye.”

Amy Ryan

Jan is back. In episode 2, the convicted murderer (played by Gone, baby gone And The office(Amy Ryan) escapes from prison and gets to Charles’ apartment through the Acronia’s secret passage system because she was worried about Sazz.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph

Not long after her Oscar win, Randolph returns OMitB as Detective Donna Williams, who reluctantly works on another murder case in Arconia.

Kumail Nanjiani

The Silicon Valley And Big sick Star plays a mysterious resident of the Arconia West Tower. Charles calls him Santa Claus because he never takes down his decorations. (However, we later find out that all the decorations are just freebies from his job as an influencer.)

Daphne Rubin Vega

Broadway star Daphne Rubin-Vega (who originated Mimi Marquez in “Rent” and appeared in the film “In the Heights”) appears as Inez, a resident of the Arconia’s west tower. She is a potential suspect with a deep love for Brazzos.

Meryl Streep

The icon and legend himself returns as Loretta Durkin, Oliver’s lover and now a breakout TV star living in LA Sophie’s choice, Mama Mia!And The devil wears Prada Star first appeared in Season 3 as a humble actress playing Oliver’s musical and protective mother to Dickie, Ben Glenroy’s adoptive brother.

Eugene Levy

The Schitt’s Creek And American cake Star plays himself and is cast as Charles (Steve Martin) in the film adaptation of the podcast. (Do you think it was the glasses?) This is another collaboration for Levy and Martin after films like Father of the bride And Cheaper by the dozen 2.

Eva Longoria

After returning to television in Land of womenThe Desperate housewives Alum lands another television role as herself and is cast as Mabel (Selena Gomez) in the film. She jokes that the character was aged to make her friendship with Charles and Oliver less “creepy.”

Zach Galifianakis

The Hangover Star also plays himself, cast as Oliver (Martin Short) in the film adaptation. He is reluctant to keep the role after Oliver doesn’t recognize him.

Molly Shannon

The comedy legend who has appeared in, among other things Superstar, Saturday Night LiveAnd Wet hot American summer (And let’s not forget how she got hit on recently The other two) is also this season. She plays Bev Mellon, the Paramount studio head who meets with Charles, Mabel and Oliver to turn her podcast into a film.

Siena Werber and Catherine Cohen

You may recognize Cohen from her comedy special, The twist…? She is beautifulor as co-host of the Seek treatment at Cat & Pat Podcast. Werber has now starred in the Netflix series Brand new cherry flavor And The sympathizer Earlier this year. Together, the actors portray twin sisters and directors called “The Brothers” (that’s their last name) who will helm the film Just murders Film.

Jin Ha
