The Find X8 Pro is powered by the current generation SoC, while the ZenFone 11 Ultra is equipped with a last generation processor. It’s still a compelling phone, that’s for sure, and we’ll see if it can compete with OPPO’s best. It’s also a little cheaper, so there’s that.

As usual, we’ll first list the specs of the two smartphones and then compare them in a number of other categories. We compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras and audio output. Let’s see how they compare because these two smartphones are not really similar.

OPPO Find X8 Pro vs. ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra: Design

Both phones are made of metal and glass. More specifically, both use aluminum and Gorilla Glass. The Find X8 Pro has Gorilla Glass 7i on the back, while the ZenFone 11 Ultra has Gorilla Glass Victus. In terms of dimensions, the two smartphones are very similar. The ZenFone 11 Ultra is slightly taller, but they are almost identical in width. ASUS’ phone is slightly thicker and 9 grams heavier.

Their display sizes are exactly the same. Both phones feature a flat display with a centered display camera hole at the top. The edges are very thin on both smartphones. The keys are placed slightly lower on the ZenFone 11 Ultra, but are on the same side as the Find X8 Pro. On both phones you will find the power/lock button and above it the volume up and down buttons. The fact is that the Find X8 Pro also has a camera shutter button on this side and the alarm slider on the left side.

You’ll notice distinctly different camera islands on the back of these phones. The Find X8 Pro is much larger and round and has four cameras. The ZenFone 11 Ultra is placed in the top left corner and has a square shape. It includes three cameras. Both smartphones are quite slippery. The Find X8 Pro is IP68 and IP69 certified, while the ZenFone 11 Ultra has IP68 certification

OPPO Find X8 Pro vs. ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra: Display

The OPPO Find X8 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch 2780 x 1264 LTPO AMOLED display. This display is flat and supports an adaptive refresh rate (1-120 Hz). Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content. The device’s brightness goes up to 4,500 nits while the screen-to-body ratio is around 90%. The Gorilla Glass 7i covers this panel and the display supports Ultra HDR images.

The ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra, on the other hand, has a 6.78-inch FullHD+ (2400 x 1080) LTPO AMOLED display. This panel technically ranges from 1 to 144 Hz, but you can basically only use 144 Hz in compatible games. HDR10 is supported and the peak brightness of this display is 2,500 nits. Here we see a screen-to-body ratio of around 88%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects this display.

Both displays are great, that’s for sure. OPPO’s display does get brighter, but honestly both displays are more than bright enough for pretty much anyone. The displays are vibrant and sharp and offer great viewing angles. The touch response is also really good on both. The OPPO Find X8 Pro has the edge in high-frequency PWM dimming, if you’re interested in that. The bottom line, however, is that both displays are great.

OPPO Find X8 Pro vs. ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra: Performance

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC powers the OPPO Find X8 Pro. This is the company’s latest and greatest flagship chip, it’s a 3nm processor. This chip is combined with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The ZenFone 11 Ultra, on the other hand, is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 4nm chip. This phone comes with up to 16GB of RAM and also uses UFS 4.0 flash storage.

The performance of both smartphones is great. This applies to everyday use and also to intensive tasks. When it comes to opening apps, jumping from one to another, running them side by side, sending emails, browsing, and anything else you can think of in everyday life, both phones can do it with ease. I must say that the animation fluidity that the ColorOS 15 delivers is noticeable in direct comparison with the ZenFone 11 Ultra, although both are very fluid devices without any lag.

What about demanding tasks like gaming? Well, the story is largely the same. Yes, the Find X8 Pro may have a more powerful chip, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is still immensely powerful. Every game we tried to run on these devices worked really well. None of the phones were too hot to touch or anything like that after a while. So don’t worry.

OPPO Find X8 Pro vs. ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra: Battery

There is a 5,910 mAh battery in the OPPO Find X8 Pro. The ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra, on the other hand, has a 5,500 mAh battery inside. OPPO used a silicon-carbon battery, which explains how it managed to get a battery with such a high capacity in such a limited space. However, does it offer better battery life? Yes, that’s true, even if the battery performance of the ZenFone 11 Ultra is nothing to sneeze at, quite the opposite.

Both phones can achieve over 7-8 hours of screen time, we’ve seen it with our own eyes. Of course, these numbers depend on your usage. During a trip to Bali, we were even able to get the Find X8 Pro well past the 10-hour screen-on-time mark. The phone didn’t even break after 12 hours of screen time, which is pretty crazy. Either way, you’ll probably be happy with the battery life of these smartphones.

How about charging? Well, the OPPO Find X8 Pro actually has the edge. It supports 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The ZenFone 11 Ultra is limited to 65W wired, 15W wireless, and 10W reverse wired charging. It’s worth noting that the OPPO Find X8 Pro comes with a charger included in the box, but unfortunately the ZenFone 11 Ultra doesn’t.

OPPO Find X8 Pro vs. ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra: Cameras

OPPO’s flagship has four cameras on the back, while ASUS’s has three. The OPPO Find (3x optical zoom, 1/1.95-inch sensor size) and a second 50-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (6x optical zoom, 1/2.51-inch sensor size).

ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra

The ASUS ZenFone 11 Ultra has a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor size), a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/3.0-inch sensor size) and a 32-megapixel Telephoto camera (3x optical zoom, 1/3.2 inch sensor size). You’ll notice that the ZenFone 11 Ultra doesn’t include a periscope telephoto camera at all. All three camera sensors are also smaller than the ones OPPO installed in its flagship.

Can the OPPO Find X8 Pro take better photos? Well, it does. In pretty much every situation and with every camera, we preferred shooting with the Find X8 Pro. It’s just easier to balance shots without overdoing the aggressive processing. It also does a fantastic job with HDR recording and it has one of the fastest shutters on the market, if not the fastest. The colors in the photos are also excellent, and Hasselblad definitely had something to do with it.

In comparison, the ZenFone 11 Ultra’s shutter doesn’t seem particularly fast, while the phone also lacks in the zoom department due to its recent periscope telephoto camera. Sometimes the images seem a bit over-processed. It’s not a bad smartphone for taking photos, but it can’t keep up with the Find X8 Pro.

Audio

You will find a set of stereo speakers on both smartphones. These speakers are good on both phones, although the Find X8 Pro’s are noticeably louder. The overall sound quality is good on both.

What the ZenFone 11 Ultra has and the Find X8 Pro doesn’t is an audio jack. However, you can still connect your wired headphones to the Find X8 Pro via the Type-C port. Bluetooth 5.4 is available on both phones for wireless connections.
