Orioles -injury updates from Henderson, Rodriguez, Sugano and more

Gunnar Henderson will play again for Triple-A Norfolk in Charlotte this evening. It could be the last game of his mission to rehabilitation injury.

The Orioles need a little more time to decide.

Henderson is 5: 16 with two homes in four games with the tides. He will stay on the field for seven to nine inning tonight.

The complication with the re -hiring of Henderson is the start time at 1:05 p.m. for the game on Thursday against the Red Sox. The trip is a consideration.

Otherwise, Henderson would make the trip to Kansas City for the weekend series against the Royals.

“I spoke to him yesterday, he feels really good,” said manager Brandon Hyde.

“Unhappy, we have a day game tomorrow, but we have to see where he is tonight after the game.”

Henderson sought his right intercostal while he caught in Sarasota Bo Bichette’s Line Drive on February 27th. He could not get ready for the opening day in time, but received many bats in the back fields and more about his rehab task.

A team that lost outfield Colton Cowser to a broken thumb could use a healthy Henderson in the line -up.

“It was such an unfortunate, strange game that took place in spring training, his side crunched a little and only had to give some time to heal,” said Hyde. “Let’s hope that things are going well tonight.”

When Henderson comes back to the Orioles, he will get back into his usual role: everyday shortstop and Leadoff Hitter.

“I’m not sure if that will be tomorrow or it will be in Kansas City,” said Hyde, “but yes, he will be up there.”

Grayson Rodriguez used to threw his second Light Bullpen session, a follow-up to his first in Toronto. He also put two “Short Box” sessions closer to the hill with the catcher.

Hyde said Jordan Westburg, who leads away again this evening, feels “much better”. Trevor Rogers and Chayce McDermott throw side meetings.

Tomoyuki Sugano is fine to start his next start this weekend after leaving his debut with cramps in both hands.

Sugano said about his interpreter that it happened in Japan in recent years. When asked whether there are preventive measures, Hyde said: “I think it’s a moisture problem, i.e. hydrate, bananas.”

“It is a hand cramp, and when I went out there, he really couldn’t move his hand very well. Now we know and hopefully we can keep it hydrauled,” said Hyde.

“It was in an air -conditioned environment and it doesn’t come here, so we have to make sure that it is hydrated.”

Jackson Holliday is sitting against the left -hander Garrett Crochet, one of the best pitchers in baseball this evening. It won’t always be the case for Holliday, but Hyde went with Jorge Mateo near Shortstop and Jordan Westburg in the second base.

“It’s a hard matchup for every left against crocheting, so I wouldn’t say that it is every time, but I think the hard left Matchup, we get a few other people in there,” said Hyde. “See how the year is going on. It is still very early. I loved the swing he recorded a few days ago. This is the best left swing that I saw in a year.
