Pacers are expected to part ways with the million star center guard

The Indiana Pacers are currently on a roll and have won a total of eight of their last ten games. Indiana has fought back from a very poor start to the season and is now tied for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

As we approach the NBA trade deadline in a few weeks, the Pacers have put themselves in the best position to make a big move. While some may argue not to bother with the way things are going, Indiana should look to add a little more firepower to the team.

With this new trade idea, the Pacers strengthen their frontcourt by bringing in one of the most sought-after names on the trade market. The deal would be between the Pacers and Utah Jazz and bring Walker Kessler to Indiana.

Using the Spotrac trading engine and adhering to the new CBA restrictions in place, a deal between the teams could look like this:

Pacers received: Walker Kessler and Jordan Clarkson

Jazz receives: Bennedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin, a 2025 first-round draft pick and a 2027 first-round pick swap

That would be a hefty amount for the Pacers to part with, but it could well be worth it. Signing Kessler to play center alongside Myles Turner would give Indiana one of the best frontcourts in the NBA.

Turner is also set to be a free agent this summer and his return is not guaranteed. While the Pacers would like to keep him, money is more of an issue in free agency and there’s always the possibility he walks away.

Adding Kessler would give this team a lot of insurance in the event Turner leaves this summer. But he could also help them the rest of the year by adding rebounding and defense.

Additionally, Clarkson could provide the Pacers with additional points off the bench, especially after Mathurin was dealt. The veteran can be a legit scorer for this team and could prove useful in the playoffs.

This deal is about both the present and the future, as the two players are under contract for next season. Kessler would be the big shot here and Indiana could do some serious damage by adding a player like him.

It remains to be seen what the Pacers will ultimately do, if they do anything at all, but Indiana has positioned itself well.
