Pallante throws 7 shutout inside and Pozo helps to promote cardinals on the 2-0 victory over Phillies

St. Louis-Andre Pallante threw seven shutout inside and the rookie catcher Yohel Pozo came from the bank to run in one run and lifted the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday evening for a 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pallante (2-0) only gave up two singles, hit four and went two.

Phil Maton withdrew the team in eighth retirement and Ryan Helsey got three outs after he gave up a leadoff single in the ninth time for his second rescue in the season and saved St. Louis’ first shutout.

Aaron Nola (0-3) allowed two runs and seven goals in five innings and excluded seven. Nola had been 4: 0 in five earlier starts against St. Louis in 2022 since game 2 of the NL Wildcard Playoffs.

Pozo, who gave his Cardinale debut on Monday evening in Pittsburgh, entered the game to catch in the second inning after Shortstop Masyn Winn had left with spasms in the lower back of the back. Pedro Pagés switched from the catcher to the second basis and the second Baseman Thomas Saggesen, who had two goals, to Shortstop.

Pozo ended 3 for 4 with a run and fit his career high for hits, which were previously made with Texas in 2021.
