Patriots make another transaction with a frequently moved veteran

The Patriots appear to be done dealing with offensive lineman Michael Jordan, and this time for good.

New England announced a practice squad reshuffle on Tuesday, signing defensive lineman Truman Jones and releasing Jordan, who was involved in several roster moves throughout the season.

Jordan initially signed in the offseason, but was released during the first roster cuts and moved on a free transfer. The Patriots brought him back via the practice squad and used two standard roster raises before officially promoting him to the active roster in September. New England made the most of his time on the active roster, starting him in 11 of 12 games, but ultimately made the surprising decision to cut him last week.

Jordan was again brought back via the practice squad, but after using his last promotion in Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the club (perhaps officially) called it quits on Tuesday.

Layden Robinson’s ability to settle in at left back on Sunday likely contributed to the move, with Cole Strange expected to provide depth after the bye week. The Patriots also have some emergency options in Sidy Sow, Tyrese Robinson and Lester Cotton, all of whom fill spots on the active roster.

Jones, 24, was originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Harvard. He spent all of 2023 and part of 2024 on their practice squad before being released on November 26, 2024.

Jones played in 30 games for Havard and finished with 88 total tackles and 28.5 sacks.
