It seems like with every performance, good or bad, analysts’ opinion of this Alabama team has changed dramatically.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum is just one of the analysts who have both supported and opposed the Crimson Tide at various points in the season, most notably a week ago when they were embarrassed on the road at Oklahoma.

But now, after closing out the regular season with a 28-14 victory over Auburn in the Iron Bowl and seeing how the rest of the country fared in rivalry week, Finebaum could be back in Alabama’s corner in college football’s home stretch are playoff rankings.

“I’m leaning back toward Alabama because I know they’re capable of beating good teams,” Finebaum said during an appearance on The Matt Barrie Show. “I’d rather field a team with weaknesses that can beat a good team like Georgia than just field someone because they got a win over the N0. 23 team in the country.”

In addition to Alabama, Miami, South Carolina and Clemson are just a few vying for the bottom spots in the expanded 12-team playoffs.

As conference championship week approaches, the Crimson Tide may still need some help from other programs to officially compete for a national title. But Alabama will have a better idea of where it stands when the College Football Playoff rankings are unveiled on Tuesday.
