Pavel Buchnevichs Hattrick drives blues in game 3 via jets

St. Louis – Pavel Buchnevich did not try to become too emotional when the hats rained on the ice in honor.

Buchnevich scored three goals for his first career playoff hat trick and added an assist when the St. Louis Blues defeated the Winnipeg Jets in game 3 of their first round on Thursday evening with 7-2.

“(Robert Thomas) somehow tried to calm me down,” said Buchnevich. “And you know we are easy and observed and are ready for the next layer.”

Cam Fowler had a goal and four templates to set a blues franchise record for points of a defender in a playoff game. Jordan Kyrou, Alexey Toropchenko and Colton Parayko also scored a goal, and Thomas had three templates to help the blues to cut the Jets’ series to 2-1. Jordan Binnington scored 17 parades.

“Buchy appeared immediately,” said Thomas. “He got flying and made some great pieces and brought us to a great start.”

David Gustafsson and Neal Pionk scored for the jets that won the first two games in Winnipeg. Connor Eric Comrie stopped two of the three shots with which he was exposed.

Game 4 is in St. Louis on Sunday, with game 5 in Winnipeg on Wednesday.

Buchnevich, who only scored one goal in 22 previous after season games, gave the blues an early lead with two goals in the opening minutes of the game. He only started it 48 seconds by putting the puck on the net from his stick, and then he typed from Thomas’ shot for a power play goal at 3:11 a.m.

“We only focused on one game after the other and, you know, believe in our system, believe in our front corner and continue,” said Buchnevich.

Fowler, who assisted the first two goals, scored 4:09 in the opening time 3-0.

Buchnevich and Fowler were the first Blues teammates with three points in a time of a playoff game since Al Macinnis and Chris Pronger in game 3 of the West quarter -finals from 1998 against the Kings.

“Heck of a piece of Buchnevich, it stepped and then threw it out of the air to start the game for 40 seconds.” But then how to give up the power play goal, we are four minutes in four minutes, you know, and then follow the game from this point. “

Binnington robbed Cole Perfetti from a power play goal in the middle of the second that Winnipeg had brought back. Perfetti and the jets thought that the puck crossed the goal line in Binnington’s glove, but after a lengthy evaluation of the league, the savings were.

“I saw his glove on the net,” said Perfetti. “Obviously he made a great rescue, but I was on the goal line and saw his glove on the net and the puck in the network of glove. … I don’t know how much more you need to see the puck on the net.”

Buchnevich’s third goal, at 5:24 a.m. the third period, came less than a minute after Gustafsson had given the jets some momentum with his first playoffs.

“I thought Buchy had been good in the first two games, especially on the defensive, but I thought aggressively, there was more in his game, and I thought he brought it with him tonight,” said Blues coach Jim Montgomery.

Kyrou had a power play goal and Toropchenko at 7:56 a.m. with 9:28 to do it 6-1 and Chase Hellebuyck.

Pionk had a power play goal for the jets 2 1/2 minutes later, but Parayko scored the third goal of the blues with the MAN Advantage, whereby 3:43 remained to close the rating.
