PC gamers can now sign up for Game Pass at an incredibly low price

Microsoft has once again started offering the $1 price PC Game Pass act. The timing of the promotion’s return conflicts with some of the company’s previously established Xbox Game Pass practices.

The $1 offer for Microsoft’s subscription service has been around for a while. In the past, this attractive Xbox Game Pass promo was usually delayed before major day one releases. This last happened in mid-October 2024, when Microsoft removed it just over a week earlier Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been added to the XGP content catalog.

Six weeks later, the $1 offer for Xbox Game Pass has now returned. The catch with this latest version of the offering is that it’s only available on PC Game Pass, while the Core, Standard and Ultimate tiers are all currently still available at full price. Although the $1 Xbox Game Pass offer used to be a month long, Microsoft shortened it to two weeks in August 2024. Unsurprisingly, PC gamers are currently being offered this discounted version of the promotion, while its month-long counterpart is not being offered and will likely return soon – if at all.

Once the trial period ends, the service will automatically renew each month. After the first price increase in summer 2024, PC Game Pass currently costs $11.99 per month. Users who wish to take advantage of this offer without committing to a full-price subscription can sign up for the service and cancel immediately. However, you can choose to continue using it during the two-week trial period instead of getting a refund for your money.

The $1 PC Game Pass deal has returned at a great time

While this offer is no longer as generous as it once was, it still came at an excellent and rather unsurprising time. Xbox Game Pass just received two major day one releases in the form of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl And Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024and will get another one on December 9th when Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is expected to arrive. Offering the $1 trial between such high-profile game launches departs from Microsoft’s usual practice of saving the deal for quieter periods in its subscription service’s release schedule.

According to testing by Game Rant, the $1 Xbox Game Pass trial is available in both North America and Europe, but is limited to new users. By “new” we don’t necessarily mean those who have been members before, just people who have been away for a while. In the past, users were eligible for the $1 Xbox Game Pass deals after not having a subscription for a year. According to Microsoft’s Xbox Subscription Terms and Conditions, actual time may vary by region and user.
