Perfect Game has Florida ranked 11th in the first 2025 preseason poll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators, making their second straight Men’s College World Series appearance, have been listed as the No. 11 team in Perfect Game’s preseason rankings for the 2025 season.

Although not the standard rankings widely used in college baseball, Perfect Game’s Top 25 represents the first preseason list from a national publication. Expected in February, D1Baseball will provide the standard Top 25 rankings, which are available in be accepted and used across the entire sports landscape.

As usual, the Southeastern Conference led all leagues with ten teams on the preseason list, followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference with six. Other SEC programs in the top 25 include No. 1 Texas A&M, No. 2 LSU, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 Tennessee, No. 7 Texas, No. 13 Arkansas, No. 15 Vanderbilt, No. 20 Oklahoma and No. 22 Auburn.

Florida returns a total of 17 players from last year’s College World Series team, including five designated hitter/catcher position starters Brody Donayoutfielder Ty EvansCatcher Luke Heymansecond baseman Cade Kurland and shortstop Colby Shelton. Postseason star Ashton Wilson and rising second-year outfielder Hayden Yost I want to take another step forward in my second year in Orange & Blue.

The Gators also return nine pitchers, led by projected staff ace Liam PetersonSouthpaw Pierce CoppolaRight-handed Jake Clemente and correct Luke McNeillie. The front three are lined up to start work, while McNeillie is the left-hander Frank Menendez and right-handed Alex Philpott will build the framework of the bullpen alongside Clemson transfer Billy Barlow.

Other blue-chip transfers in Gainesville include Bobby Boser (USF), Blake Cyr (Miami), Kyle Jones (Stetson), Justin Nadeau (Jacksonville) and Landon Stripling (Texas Tech). Cyr and Jones appear to have secured starting spots in the UF outfield alongside Evans. At the hot corner, Boser figures to get the bulk of the starts after three strong seasons at USF.

Florida opens the 2025 regular season at home on Friday, February 14 against Air Force and hosts the Falcons for the first time in program history in a three-game series (February 14-16). Season tickets and SEC Five-Pack Mini plans are currently on sale.
